Overview

Cross-Brand Campaign: No Time To Die × Danner Boots

Overview

Launching a theatrical film is a highly coordinated effort. Launching a campaign that combines a major Hollywood studio, an established heritage footwear brand, retail partners, and legal teams across multiple organizations requires even greater precision.

For the release of James Bond: No Time To Die, I worked alongside Sony Studios and Danner Boots to develop a promotional lead-generation campaign that connected audiences with both brands while reinforcing Danner’s longstanding association with military and tactical professionals.

The campaign centered around an exclusive giveaway featuring premium Danner products and James Bond-themed promotional assets, supported by a cinematic promotional video distributed across the participating organizations’ digital channels.

While the public-facing campaign appeared simple, it represented months of planning, approvals, creative development, and coordination between multiple stakeholders.

Unlike a traditional marketing campaign owned by a single company, this initiative required collaboration across organizations with very different priorities.

Success depended on aligning:

  • Sony Studios marketing objectives
  • Danner Boots brand standards
  • Retail marketing requirements
  • Promotional giveaway regulations
  • Licensing restrictions surrounding the James Bond intellectual property
  • Legal approval from every participating organization

Every visual element, product placement, logo treatment, script revision, and distribution channel required approval.

The challenge wasn’t simply producing creative assets—it was creating a campaign every stakeholder could confidently support.

With multiple organizations participating, communication became as important as the creative itself.

To keep production moving efficiently, the project followed a structured review process that ensured:

  • Creative concepts remained aligned with campaign objectives
  • Every organization had visibility into revisions
  • Legal feedback could be incorporated without disrupting production timelines
  • Brand standards were consistently maintained
  • Final deliverables met each partner’s publishing requirements

Rather than treating approvals as obstacles, they became an integrated part of the creative workflow.

This collaborative approach significantly reduced late-stage revisions and kept production on schedule despite the number of stakeholders involved.

Before production began, we translated the campaign vision into a storyboard that defined:

  • Narrative pacing
  • Product reveals
  • Giveaway messaging
  • Motion graphics
  • Brand placement
  • Call-to-action timing

The storyboard became the blueprint shared across all partners, allowing marketing teams, producers, and legal reviewers to evaluate the campaign before significant production resources were invested.

By securing alignment early, we minimized production risk and accelerated downstream approvals.

Following production, I assisted in post-production by helping refine the pacing, sequencing, messaging, and overall presentation of the final promotional video.

Attention was focused on ensuring:

  • Consistent visual identity across brands
  • Proper use of licensed film assets
  • Compliance with approved messaging
  • Platform-ready formatting for multiple distribution channels
  • Strong promotional pacing that maintained viewer engagement while clearly communicating the giveaway mechanics

The final deliverables were prepared for deployment across each participating organization’s digital platforms, ensuring audiences experienced a consistent campaign regardless of where they encountered it.

The campaign successfully demonstrated how multiple brands can collaborate around a major entertainment launch without sacrificing creative quality or operational efficiency.

Key outcomes included:

  • Successful collaboration between Sony Studios, Danner Boots, and retail marketing teams
  • Delivery of a unified cross-brand promotional campaign
  • Multi-platform distribution using shared creative assets
  • Efficient navigation of complex legal and licensing approvals
  • A streamlined creative review process that kept production moving toward launch

More importantly, the project reinforced the value of thoughtful creative operations—where successful execution depends as much on collaboration, communication, and process as it does on design.

  • Creative Direction
  • Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Storyboarding
  • Motion Design Collaboration
  • Video Post-Production
  • Brand Partnerships
  • Licensing & Legal Coordination
  • Campaign Development
  • Marketing Strategy
  • Creative Operations
  • Multi-Stakeholder Project Management
  • Cross-Platform Content Delivery

This campaign reflects the type of work I enjoy most: bringing together creative vision, operational discipline, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver work that meets the expectations of multiple stakeholders without compromising the quality of the final experience.

Projects like this require more than design expertise—they require the ability to build consensus, manage complexity, and guide creative work through every stage of production, from initial concept and storyboarding to post-production and final launch.
